People are incredibly interesting. Don’t you agree?
This is why they make amazing subjects. Below are an amazing archive of human beings that shared their honest selves with me. When I photograph the subject as a portrait or a headshot I try to make sure the background takes them into account, not the other way around. Each area was chosen with the subject in mind so that viewers can learn about them from every angle of the photo. This is candid portrait photography.
Let’s see what makes sense for the interesting people below.

Claire Mortenson (she/her), a light-hearted, intellectual comedian that has the ability to create gut wrenching laughter from most people (at least the ones who have a heart). Her life experience directly leaks into her appearance. Barista, bartender, retail, it's all different yet relative experience when it comes to how Claire sees the world. She accepts all people for what they are and lives to make the world laugh. Claire and I used the Lower East Side and Greenwich Village as areas of personal expression.

Maria Jose Von Tramp (She/her) is someone that enters a room and needs no one else to fit it. Her energy, voice, and views are all required to create an engaging atmosphere that can keep anyone deeply engaged. As a Venezuelan immigrant, Maria has a worldly perspective that helps anyone feel gratitude, happiness, and a sense of belonging. Her warm energy is infectious and a joy to have in life. For a better look into her world visit her photography Instagram @vontramps. Maria and I used the World Trade Center Oculus and Battery Park City as areas of personal expression.

Kayleigh Jacobs (She/her) once a California dreamboat, now a seasoned New York native brings her grit to every interaction. A friend, an actor, a theater director, her background is as versatile as her perspective. Kayleigh J. is a loud and proud supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and she’ll make sure respect is at the forefront of anyone who speaks on the topic. Armed with a sharp wit, she is most likely going to leave you laughing and surprised all at the same time. If her sharp wits don’t grab you, her fur baby Harvey will certainly bring you in. Kayleigh J. and I used the Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo as areas of expression.

Austen Howard (They/them) a southern person taking on the theater community in New York consistently makes time for every interaction to provide progress. As an assistant stage manager, Austen H. has every physical solution a cast member could need. They take their solution strategy a step further by consistently advocating for those around them. There is no boundary for their ability to uplift the voices of anyone who needs their assistance. Austen H. and I used Greenwich Village as an area of expression.
